Bits and Bobs Check!

Today we checked off our list of spare parts - all of which (plus the 3 person tent, pegs, groundsheet,  hammer, tarpaulin, his clothing and a share of water and food) are carried by Del in his trailer.
Our most common problem is, of course, punctures - mainly in the trailer tyres.
As well as inner tubes, this time we'll also carry spare tyres for bikes and trailers as, over 7000kms, there will be wear and tear.
The bike tyres are Swalbe Marathon Plus, which are virtually puncture proof if we stick to sealed roads.
Also included in the kit are spare trailer and bike axles, spokes, puncture kit, tyre levers, Allen key kits, gear cog, crescent spanners, screwdriver, batteries for computers and bike lights, cable ties, pump - and a manual!
On previous trips, we've had to utilise all of the above!
All this in Del's trailer - and more yet to add!!
No wonder he's training like mad!

Locked and Loaded!

Getting closer now! Time to get the trailers hitched.

Just a light load today while we adjust to the extra weight and the slower starts and stops at intersections.
We'll gradually increase the loads over the next few weeks until we're not far off our final load weights.
The greater the trailer weight, the firmer control of the handlebars is needed. Taking a hand off for hand signals can be a bit wobbly for me sometimes, but, luckily, Del always does it confidently.

A good run today - no problems - and a tail wind!

Good reason to enjoy a double strength, trim, flat white at our favourite coffee stop, I say!
